Communications Coordinator
Transit City Department
This position is required for the Transit City Project only.Reporting to the Deputy Program Manager - Planning, you are responsible for the planning, development and implementation of a variety of communications tools in support of the Transit City Light Rail Plan, to enhance relations with the TTC’s stakeholders such as customers, the general public, City officials, news media and employees. Liaising with the Marketing & Customer Service, and Corporate Communications Departments, you also coordinate branding, marketing and advertising programs and services for the Transit City projects. Your duties include: researching, analyzing and identifying communications needs; researching, verifying, writing and/or editing information from internal and external resources to ensure a final product that is clear, concise and understandable to the target audience; developing the concept for, and coordinating the production of a variety of print, multimedia and on-line material such as bulletins, audiovisual material, news releases and website content; responding to enquiries and requests from the general public, news media, etc., as the spokesperson or initial contact for the Department; facilitating the public consultation process, organizing and attending Open Houses and other events to provide information, obtain comments, and answer questions on the transit projects; enhancing positive community relations through the effective means and distribution of informational, promotional and advertising material; contributing to the development and implementation of the Transit City brand to ensure it is in the best interest of the TTC; participating in the planning and implementation of marketing and advertising campaigns, special events, etc. designed to enhance the identity and objectives of the Transit City Light Rail Plan with the various stakeholders; building and maintaining working relationships with relevant internal and external contacts; participating as the Transit City communications representative on special committees, projects, etc.; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
You require a strong knowledge of communications and multimedia combined with knowledge of marketing and advertising principles. Must have an applied knowledge of media, audiovisual, print, web, multimedia and graphics principles and practices aligned with a demonstrated background in the communication of informational, promotional, advertising and public relations material. You must possess sound judgement. You are detail oriented and have the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines, using well developed planning, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills are essential. Must have proficient PC skills including desk-top publishing and web page design and development. These skills and knowledge would normally be obtained through the completion of a post secondary program in a related field (e.g. Communications, Journalism, Marketing) or the equivalent, combined with several years of directly related experience in a project oriented environment.Annual Salary Range: $61,115.60 - $76,367.20 (Level 8) Under Review
