MEDIA COMPANY SEEKS BUSINESS AFFAIRS COORDINATOR

 

We are a young television, film & new media production company based in Toronto.  We create exciting projects that engage audiences in Canada and worldwide.  We are seeking a Business Affairs Coordinator to join our office on a full-time basis beginning in April.  The role will involve working directly with the senior team to maintain financial records and act as an external liaison for all business relationships.

Skills needed for this position:

- An attention to detail.  This position demands a methodical, analytical approach to the work in order to keep well organized, up-to-date records.

- Graduation from a recognized University or College business program, coupled with a minimum 3-5 yrs related work experience would be ideal


- Ability to decipher and negotiate legal documentation with external partners
- Exceptional communication skills (professional writing and speaking)


- Time-management skills (work independent to a schedule and keep others on track)


- Computer fluency in word, excel (Knowledge of accounting software a plus)


- Must have the ability to think clearly and logically, able to set priorities and respect deadlines.


- Experience in interactive and/or traditional media industries is an asset but not required

- Understanding of budgets, payroll, reporting procedures

In this position, you will be:

- Working with budgets for future projects and tracking current budgets


- Maintaining cost reports and cash flow projections for multiple concurrent projects


- Working with our legal team to develop service contracts/deal memos with freelancers and new client agreements

- Invoicing clients, tracking accounts receivable, drawdowns from funders 


- Applying to tax credits and seeking new revenue streams from past and future projects


- Working with accountant to file corporate paperwork for single-purpose production companies


- Preparing applications and submissions for proposals and grants; following up on applications and upcoming deadlines
