| Responsibilities: | Join an award-winning, dynamic local news team. We are looking for an experienced assignment editor who thrives in a live environment. This leader will have strong editorial judgement and will be part of the senior news management team. · Assigning staff and resources for the production of Metro Vancouver and provincially- focused stories. · Generating story ideas · Taking part in the daily and long term planning of news coverage. · Act as a liaison with local stations, other networks and agencies · Other duties as assigned. | ||
| Qualifications: | · In-depth knowledge of local news and current affairs · Experience in dealing breaking news coverage · Excellent organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines and prioritize · Computer skills – knowledge of iNews an asset · On-air reporting experience an asset · Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills · Experience directing staff · Ability to work in a team, motivate staff and personally set the highest professional journalism standards. · A broad general knowledge of television technology particularly in the digital world | ||
