This new team member will have several years of journalistic experience, is passionate about live television, is an outstanding writer and knows the value of good story telling. Join our growing news team at CP24 and help build Toronto’s most watched news channel. · Responsible for on air output of CP24 · Supervise anchor, line-up and writing of CP24 · Work with writers and assignment to ensure CP24 is on top of all news and covering events live when appropriate. · Determine the editorial direction for CP24 in step with the Director of News and Programming · Responsible for taking live events to air. · Responsible for writing and chase producing of breaking news · Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: · Extensive control room experience · Thrive under pressure · Experience in senior roles in news/information programming or equivalent · In-depth knowledge of City of Toronto is a major asset · Excellent organizational skills · Excellent writing skills · Excellent communication and computer skills · Ability to lead a team, motivate staff and personally set the highest professional journalism standards. · Demonstrated ability to originate coverage on developing stories including populist trends and features. · Strength in use of video in story telling · Extensive experience in dealing with breaking news coverage
