Position: IT/Engineering Assistant
Location: CHUM Radio Winnipeg
Salary: CEP Local 819M, Group B. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Overtime as required.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Radio Technical Director, the IT/Engineering Assistant provides IT support to users in a Windows environment, and operates and maintains traditional broadcast radio equipment.

Specific responsibilities include:

· Providing expertise and technical support in the maintenance, monitoring and change management of the LAN, computers and servers.
· Assisting in the day-to-day operations of broadcast equipment at the studio, at live remotes, and at transmitter sites
· Installing and maintaining Windows operating and proprietary third party software on Windows-based computers
· Resolving user and systems problems quickly and efficiently, and tracking resolution status
· Planning and implementing preventative measures for both broadcast and computer equipment
· Implementing system management and operation policies as directed
· Assisting staff with the utilization of broadcast-specific software
· Providing support in the set-up, operation and maintenance of broadcast equipment, transmitter site equipment, and links for remote broadcasts
· Communicating effectively with users and other team members
· Performing 24/7 on-call duties as scheduled
· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
· Post-secondary certificate in Computer Networking or related program; candidates with equivalent work experience may also be considered
· 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience preferred
· Microsoft MSCE certification an asset
· Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the field of radio broadcasting, however training may be provided to a suitable candidate without broadcast radio experience
· Candidates must be able to perform on-call duties promptly as scheduled
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from managers, co-workers, clients, customers, and the general public
· Must be well organized and capable of handling multiple assignments, with the proven ability to provide thorough follow-up to ensure problems are seen through to resolution
· Candidate must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 or equivalent driver’s license and reliable transportation
