CTV - Senior Audio Technician (Toronto)

Position: Senior Audio Technician, (Post Production) CEP Local 79M

Location: CTV Specialty Television – Agincourt
Salary: Operations Group 8 - $1348.63 to $1466.05 per week (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required.

Responsibilities:
· The use and management of Apple OS X and Windows computer platforms.
· Multi-track editing and mixing, including all attendant tasks such as sound design and voice recording using a Digidesign ProTools Digital Audio Workstation. Specific experience with “AVoption”, “DigiTranslator”, and “MachineControl” is required.
· Audio media exchange with Avid Media Composer systems via "file-level", Open Media Framework (omf) and Advanced Authoring Format (aaf) formats.
· Experience mixing and delivering in Surround Sound formats, up to and including 5.1
· Familiarity with ATSC High Definition formats at a variety of frame-rates.
· Use and application of Dolby Surround (ProLogic and ProLogic II), Dolby E, and Dolby AC-3 technology, including metadata authoring.
· Restriping of picture masters with finished mixes on a variety of broadcast VTR formats including Digital Betacam, Betacam SX, HDCAM and HDCAM-SR.
· Data and system administration, including archival procedures, user management and troubleshooting techniques.
· Use and applications of various professional audio storage devices including DTRS-format multitracks, R-DAT and data DAT transports and Recordable CD.
· Use and application of analog and digital consoles/mixing systems, including computer-based mixing (ie. ProTools), to effect accurate and timely generation of international elements/versions of programs from domestic source material.
· Complete work orders, production database entries, fault reports and time sheets in a thorough and timely manner.

Qualifications:
· College diploma or university degree with emphasis on technical and production standards or equivalent related job experience.
· Minimum 5 years experience in mixing television episodical and long form documentaries.
· Knowledge of current surround sound broadcast formats.
· Good time management skills are required. .
· Self-motivated individual who possesses the ability to work without supervision.
· The ability to troubleshoot software and hardware malfunctions.
· The ability to communicate ideas and vital project related information to others.
