Position: Bilingual Senior Communications Manager – Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium / Contract Position – Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games

Location: Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium - Toronto
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the successful bilingual candidate will support all Communications activities surrounding the Consortium’s coverage of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games: · Liaise with French- and English-language media; arrange interviews and manage requests · Serve as core contact for external French-language media · Foster relationships with key French media outlets to support communications campaigns and maximize media coverage · Develop internal key messaging for programming, production and promotions and manage crisis communications · Draft and edit media materials · Facilitate guest appearances for athletes, celebrities and talent across the Consortium’s media assets · Support Consortium promotional events, including news conferences, staff functions, photo shoots and media tours · Assist with on-site media efforts during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games · Additional duties as required
Qualifications:
· 5 years minimum experience in the public relations/communications industry, developing and executing targeted strategies · Fully bilingual with impeccable communication skills in French and English, both written and verbal · An existing network of French- and English-language sports, news and entertainment media contacts · Strong knowledge of the Quebec market, including athletes and media ·Solid and proven experience fostering relationships with media ·Blend of corporate communications skills with a background in sports, entertainment and TV production ·Detailed knowledge of and passion for the Olympic Games and sports in general ·Excellent understanding of new media ·Highly detailed and deadline oriented with the ability to multi-task ·Functions well in a fast-paced environment with excellent time-management skills ·Accessible after hours and weekends as required
